As most college admissions essays require that students don’t exceed 500 words, college essay expert, Gelb reveals that it is essential to stick to the crux of your story and the message you’re trying to convey. College Admissions Stats: Rise in College Applications Raises Concerns About Access

The numbers are in. In case we didn’t already know, the college admissions world is getting more competitive. From 2001 to 2008, average annual increases in the median number of applications at public four-year institutions increased about 6 percent a year, or 47 percent growth overall.
