Classical concert pianist and teacher, Azusa Ueno was born in Tokyo, Japan, but grew up in Connecticut. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Psychology from Yale University, and Masters and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Manhattan School of Music. Azusa has given numerous performances across the United States, Japan, and the Czech Republic. She is also an avid collaborative pianist and vocal coach.

Azusa’s first foray into tutoring began in high school, where she worked with students in Geometry, Algebra I/II, French, and Chemistry. At Yale, she was selected to tutor French and Japanese and worked closely with ESL students, preparing them for the TOEFL exam. One of Azusa’s major aims is to support, guide, and motivate her students to think critically. She believes it is it crucial to explain how and why concepts work, rather than just teaching facts. She likes to make the learning process as creative as possible.

In her spare time, Azusa loves to draw (calligraphy and graffiti are her specialties). She is also an avid Converse collector and owns 30 differently colored pairs of said shoes.
