In Our Community
A-List is committed to offering its exceptional services to teens and young adults who may not otherwise have access to quality SAT instruction and college advising. As part of its ongoing effort
to serve these communities, we have partnered with the Boys and Girls Club and
Graham Windham to offer courses that will help these college-bound students
achieve their goals. We intend to expand the services we provide in the
non-profit sector and are exploring additional partnerships with national and
community-based non-profit organizations.
Inquiries from interested non-profit organizations are enthusiastically welcomed
and should be directed to Lisa Stella, the Director of Nonprofit Programs (lisas@alisteducation.com).
Below are brief descriptions of some of the non profit organizations we work
with:
Graham Windham
Graham Windham is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian voluntary child care agency providing
a comprehensive range of services and resources to families and children in the
New York metropolitan area. Graham Windham's mission is to help underserved
children overcome obstacles on the path to self-sufficiency by giving children
the skills to succeed, supporting and strengthening their families and, when
necessary, supplementing their families. Graham Windham offers the city's most
needy children and families a comprehensive system of multidisciplinary
services. The programs provide early and consistent help to overcome
circumstances that can put a child's prospects for learning and maturing at
risk, prohibit a family from staying together, and impede a community's capacity
to thrive. Graham Windham's goal is to help each child and family achieve a
stable, secure, permanent home environment. In addition, the Agency will
prepare families and children to assume long-term independence and
self-sufficiency.
Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club
Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club is a local affiliate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a
national organization whose mission is to enable all young people, especially
those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring,
responsible citizens. BGCA serves 3.3 million boys and girls across America at
over 4,000 club locations, employing 11,000 full-time and 40,000 part-time
trained youth professionals, plus tens of thousands of volunteers.
Through the 80's and 90's, the Grenville
Baker Boys & Girls Club recognized the changing needs and interests of children
and worked constantly to expand existing programs and begin new ones. While
football was the original program offered at the Club, today we offer programs
in five Core areas: Education & Career Development; Sports, Fitness &
Recreation; The Arts; Character & Leadership Development; and Health & Life
Skills. The Club currently serves more than 2,000 youngsters, with more than 200
kids coming to the Club daily. With all the changes over the years, however, one
thing has remained the same: our core promise to our kids to provide a safe and
nurturing environment and to have a positive impact on their lives.
Year Up
Year Up is a one-year, intensive training program that provides urban young adults
18-24, with a unique combination of technical and professional skills, college
credits, an educational stipend and corporate apprenticeship.
Our success is our graduates -- enabling them to move on to full-time employment
and higher education. Year Up is about providing opportunities for urban young
adults to demonstrate their true potential.
