Murat Keyder grew up in Istanbul Turkey with a Turkish father and an American mother, and moved to America when he was sixteen. He attended Cornell University where he majored in math, after which he got a masters degree in “Anthropology of Music” from the University of Pennsylvania, where he taught world music classes and guitar lessons as part of his stipend. After his Masters degree he continued to work for Upenn as a guitar teacher, and eventually decided to move to New York City to pursue his music career. He currently teaches and tutors math and test prep in addition to giving private lessons on the guitar and the Oud, a Middle Eastern string instrument. He is also working on recording a solo album of original guitar music.
