Long Island native Zach Gould was born and raised in Roslyn, NY, where he first developed his passion for both academics and sports. He earned his B.A from Lehigh University in Philosophy while also playing soccer for their Division I team.
His teaching career began while he was still in college, where he mentored and tutored fellow athletes. His primary focus during this time was helping business and engineering students write essays for their liberal arts electives, and after college he continued by helping high school students write college essays. Over the last 5 years, he’s continued pursing his passion for both teaching academics and soccer—working both as a one-on-one tutor and as an assistant high school varsity soccer coach. He’s taught everything from math, English, writing college essays, science, and social studies to advanced shooting techniques and diving headers, and he thoroughly enjoys both pursuits!
While he’s not teaching, Zach spends his free time pursuing his other passion: traveling. Over the last several years, he’s spent a significant amount of time abroad studying culture and language. His travels have taken him throughout Central and South America, where he studied Spanish and South American culture, and most recently to Portugal, where he studied Portuguese.
“Zach Gould is a wonderful tutor. He is patient and he zones in on our son’s weaknesses. Justin has improved his ACT by 5 points and we couldn’t be happier.”

I think A-List is a great organization. My tutor was positive and tailored the material to my learning style. She made learning each subject fun and presented new topics in an engaging fashion. Thank you so much to A-List for helping me achieve my personal best!
A-List gave me more than just practice tests and test-taking tips, though these were invaluable. My tutor connected with me on a personal level and helped me understand that I was capable of getting the score I wanted. Suddenly, I viewed my test-taking experience as a challenge, not a burden. I walked into my ACT with the confidence that I knew exactly how to conquer every aspect of the test.”
Mother of Phoebe C.
Both my children had an amazing experience with A-List! Steadily, she worked hard to improve her test scores. Taking the practice tests allowed her to gain confidence and learn to manage her time during the tests. Then a college advisor helped her write her college essays. She was an amazing guide who helped Phoebe focus and streamline her supplements and essays. Now she will be attending her dream college, Rice University, School of Architecture!
