An extremely experienced SAT and ACT tutor who has taught thousands of students in classrooms and hundreds privately – and shown tremendous results in doing so – Jon Morris earned his Master of Arts from NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts in Cinema Studies and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from the University of Southern California’s hyper-selective School of Cinema-Television, graduating both magna cum laude. A career writer and editor, Jon is a veteran of the Hollywood screenwriting scene, but most recently has been published in a number of academic journals and attended several regional and national academic conferences as both presenter and moderator. He’s also worked in new media as a website editor and researcher, blogger, and has even lent his stalwart baritone to a number of podcasts, including his own, the soon-to-be-launched Irreverent Cineastes podcast.
As an avid reader, ardent cineaste, and avowed gamer, Jon’s scholarship focuses on the intersection of history and media, especially in the post-9/11 era, and as such possesses a formidable knowledge of U.S. and World History, geopolitics, American and English literature, gender and minority studies, philosophy, and, of course, popular culture. He’s also is in discussions with a major academic press about publishing what will be his first book, as well as working on a science fiction novel.
“Everything was amazing. My tutor, Jon, helped me tremendously and I felt like he truly cared about helping me succeed as much as possible and always put 100% effort into everything we did. His tutoring has even helped me improve my high school grades. The A-List practice tests have helped me prepare for the SAT with things like my test anxiety and just understanding what type of questions that would be on the test. Overall, I can say he was the best tutor I have ever had.”

I think A-List is a great organization. My tutor was positive and tailored the material to my learning style. She made learning each subject fun and presented new topics in an engaging fashion. Thank you so much to A-List for helping me achieve my personal best!
A-List gave me more than just practice tests and test-taking tips, though these were invaluable. My tutor connected with me on a personal level and helped me understand that I was capable of getting the score I wanted. Suddenly, I viewed my test-taking experience as a challenge, not a burden. I walked into my ACT with the confidence that I knew exactly how to conquer every aspect of the test.”
Mother of Phoebe C.
Both my children had an amazing experience with A-List! Steadily, she worked hard to improve her test scores. Taking the practice tests allowed her to gain confidence and learn to manage her time during the tests. Then a college advisor helped her write her college essays. She was an amazing guide who helped Phoebe focus and streamline her supplements and essays. Now she will be attending her dream college, Rice University, School of Architecture!
