John-Michael has taught high school in New York City (geometry & history) and Fairfax, Virginia (history & English). He has taught test prep for the past four years, and for 24 years he has taught workshops on theatre topics ranging from Shakespearean verse to improvisation.
John-Michael attended Yale University but left for St John’s College, a school of 400 students in northern New Mexico that offers just one degree course, an integrated curriculum of philosophy, languages & literature, and the history of mathematics, based exclusively on primary sources from Homer, Plato and Euclid to Woolf, Hegel and Einstein. Later, John-Michael attended the London International School of Performing Arts, where he trained in physical theatre and collaborative creation.
These days, John-Michael’s ongoing education consists of studying Spanish at the Instituto Cervantes and wine with the Wine & Spirits Education Trust, where he recently passed the Level 2 exam with distinction.
John-Michael is an amateur cook with a particular interest in French cuisine. There is little he enjoys more than having friends round for a six course dinner with wines to match. He is also a fan of silent film, and one of his favourite things about London is how easy it is to see Mary Pickford or Buster Keaton on the big screen, and with live accompaniment to boot.
