Originally from New Jersey, Steve is a recent graduate from the University of Oxford, where, as a recipient of the Clarendon Scholarship, he received a Master of Science degree in Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology. Prior to graduate school, Steve completed his undergraduate at Harvard University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Evolutionary Psychology. While at Harvard, Steve was also a recipient of the Pechet Opera Fellowship, the Weissman International Artist Grant, and the Caroline Isenberg Prize for Theatre Practice. Steve’s primary research interest lies in theatre audiences, specifically how the emotionally arousing experience of drama enhances group social bonding and creativity. Outside of the lab, Steve works as a professional director and producer for theatre and opera, and his projects have so far spanned the US, UK, China, and Taiwan. Most recently, Steve brought the productions ‘Dining Al Desko’ and “The Oxford Revue: WASTED’ to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He has also worked as Executive Producer for the Lowell House Opera, New England’s oldest opera company, and as Production Director for ‘The Demon’ at the Cutler Majestic Theatre, which last year won first place in the National Opera Association Division VI Production Competition. Other recent theatre credits include ‘Eurydice,’ ‘The Flick,’ ’Small Mouth Sounds,’ ‘La bohème,’ and ‘Alexander’s Feast.’
